René Aarnink

René co-founded SonicPrecision to solve a key challenge in electrophysiology: achieving durable, first-time-right ablation results

René co-founded SonicPrecision to solve a key challenge in electrophysiology: achieving durable, first-time-right ablation results. He brings deep MedTech innovation experience, including leadership in the development of Philips’ VeriSight Pro, along with a strong track record in clinical collaboration, senior team leadership and early-stage venture building. With a background in electrical and biomedical engineering and a PhD in Medical Sciences, René leads the team in developing a next-generation catheter platform with real-time ultrasound sensing to enable safer, more predictable procedures and better patient outcomes.

Joanneke Groen

CPO/Co-founder
Joanneke Co-founded SonicPrecision with a strong desire to get this breakthrough technology in the hands of physicians.

Joanneke Groen brings over 20 years of experience in medical device development, with deep expertise in user research, customer validation, competitive benchmarking, and clinical investigation across cardiovascular domains. She is known for her strong co-creation approach with clinicians, ensuring that product decisions are grounded in real clinical workflows and unmet needs. Joanneke has led multiple product development trajectories from concept to clinical evaluation, combining strategic insight with hands-on execution. Her thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and evidence generation allows her to seamlessly integrate usability, safety, and compliance into development. With a proven track record in pre-clinical and clinical work, she ensures that innovation is translated into clinically viable and commercially sound solutions.

Gert-Jan Hulsbosch

System Engineer
Gert-Jan is responsible for keeping the overview on the entire system and supply chain.

Gert-Jan Hulsbosch is a recent biomedical engineering graduate from KU Leuven with a strong interest in cardiovascular innovation. His curiosity for the field was first ignited during his master’s thesis on intravascular ultrasound, where he developed hands-on experience in medical imaging, signal analysis, and experimental validation. With a solid foundation in biomedical engineering principles, Gert-Jan brings analytical rigor, a structured problem-solving approach, and the ability to quickly translate complex technical concepts into practical insights. Motivated by the opportunity to support innovation at the intersection of engineering and clinical need, he offers a fresh perspective and a commitment to high-quality, clinically relevant solutions.

Arie van Boxtel

Program lead/Quality Manager
Arie is setting up our quality management system and making sure we comply.

Arie van Boxtel is an experienced leader with over 40 years of expertise in Research & Development and high-tech innovation environments. He has a strong background in project and line management, working extensively with international partners in Europe, Asia, and the USA. Arie has a proven track record in structuring organizations, driving transformations, and guiding multidisciplinary teams. His broad experience in innovation processes, medical quality management, and strategic development is reflected in senior roles at Philips and PLDS. He is known for his reliable leadership, analytical mindset, and consistent focus on delivering high-quality results across the entire lifecycle from concept to production.

Charlotte Kints

PhD student Biomedical Engineering TUE
Charlotte will make sure our product is future proof.

Charlotte van Kints recently started a PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) at the department of Biomedical Engineering, in cooperation with SonicPrecision. She did both her bachelor and master’s in Applied Physics at TU/e, and during her master she developed a strong interest in applying physics to solve medical challenges. Both her master internship and graduation project were related to physics of the cardiovascular system. Her strong interest in medical technology, combined with her solid foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving, make her an enthusiastic team member who is eager to learn and committed to improving medical technology for better patient outcomes.
